Spook and the Ghouls are a psycho-billy, rocka-billy group formed in the early to mid-eighties. Their sound was original, unique, and still to this day as current as ever for those who follow psycho-billy, rocka-billy, or even punk music, which their sound marginally touched upon. Having re-formed in late 2005 by popular demand, the group consists mostly of the original line-up.

Spook, (Simon Badmington), is still the ever present lead singer whose performance on stage is always as thrilling, and as shocking as it was in the old days. Simon also plays the bass guitar on stage, along with the slap double-bass.

Vic (Fontane) Greener is still the crazy drummer for Spook and the Ghouls. His performances on stage are still as wild, and as energetic as ever, whipping the crowd up in his inevitable way. Although twenty years older these days, Fontane’s attitude is still stuck somewhere in 1977, much to the advantage of Spook and the Ghouls.

"This is the only release of the rockin.. Psycho- / Gothabilly outfit, originating from the north east of England. The fourteen track 12.... vinyl album was originally distributed by Nervous Records and was never released on CD. The majority of the tracks are horror movie based, dark songs with a slightly distorted guitar sound and a healthy slap bass like Reaper Grim or Live And Raw, that were also included on the Zorch Factor 3 compilation. Other highlights are an AC/DC cover of Rocker, the Rockabilly-ish Love Me So and Death Ride."

Spook and the Ghouls were signed to Nervous Records in the mid-eighties, and their debut album Whitechapel Murders was an instant smash hit amongst their loyal fans old and new.

The fans who followed Spook and the Ghouls were, and still are from all corners of the globe, and from all walks of life.

Spook And The Ghouls were a horror Gothabilly/Psychobilly act from the North East of England. They appeared like medieval 'hoodies'! Their bassist usually played his slap-bass via an echo chamber to give it a more 'ethereal' sound. I remember them coming on stage at an outdoor psychobilly event and as they stepped on stage, dark clouds gathered and there was a huge thunderclap.

Sinopsis:
Montaje a cargo del equipo de edición del programa "15 minutos! que resume la totalidad del material audiovisual incautado por las fuerzas de seguridad del Estado en el año 2005, durante los ataques y asesinatos por parte del colectivo juvenil "REAL ZOMBIE" con un balance de 231 victimas mortales.

Comentarios:
Real Zombie, cortometraje escrito y dirigido por el joven madrileño Pablo Maqueda producido por Álvaro Daza y Jon Matías que fue realizado como proyecto fin de carrera para la asignatura Dirección Cinematográfica

Se trata de un cortometraje realizado sin apenas presupuesto en la onda de las nuevas cintas de terror en clave de youtube con todo su metraje grabado con cámara en mano para aumentar la sensación de agonía y realismo. Este tipo de cine que tan de moda se ha puesto con imprescindibles títulos como [REC] o el más prescindible Cloverfield está teniendo un gran auge entre los jóvenes cortometrajistas ya que con muy poco, se puede llegar a contar mucho y la narración y encuadres ofrecen todo un nuevo mundo que explotar.

A destacar el inicio del corto con los comunicados de TVE, muy realista, así como los primeros minutos en los que se va cuajando la trama. Sorprende además que, sin ser actores profesionales, las actuaciones de los jóvenes protagonistas sean tan realistas, así como el imaginar cómo fue el rodaje en las calles de madrid llenas de tripas de cerdo y vísceras por las aceras.

El corto se rodó en 11 días principalmente con una Sony HD FX1, pero las distintas texturas video que se dan vienen por los diferentes formatos con los que se grabaron otras escenas (DV, HD, Móvil, cámaras de seguridad…) y como anécdota, una de las noches llegó la policía secreta y 3 coches de policía nacional que casi sacan las pistolas al ver tal caos de gente gritando y muriendo por las calles.

There's not much info on this recording but the songs are probably recorded in 2007. 8 demo tracks for a never released album. The vocals are split between Jerry Only, former The Misfits singer Michale Graves and a Glenn Danzig soundalike.
Quality is not the best, but it's a demo after all and it's still listenable.

La banda comienza cuando Luis y Hector, influenciados por bandas de la escena Rockabilly y Psychobilly, deciden hacer musica solo con bajo y bateria, de ahi salen las primeras maquetas hasta que llega Jaime en la guitarra con sus influencias rocknrolleras y tintes a Dead Kennedys. De ahi siguen componiendo y registrando todas las ideas que iban apareciendo ensayo tras ensayo, en el intertanto buscando un vocalista acorde al estilo. Es asi cuando llega Pollito Karnate a cubrir la posicion de vocalista, consiguiendo asi una formacion definitiva de la banda. De ahi ensayo y tocatas , hasta que Luis adquiere su Contrabajo... pero solo se podia ensayar acustico, ya que la capsula ideal para amplificar el contrabajo no estaba ni en Stgo, menos en la V region. Fue asi que Luis la pudo conseguir diretamente de USA, y de ahi este no ha parado con los slap. Luego Jaime cambia su guitarra, a una con un sonido mas acorde al estilo..quedando la banda potencialmente bien implementada.

Es asi como se ha estado ensayo tras ensayo, adaptando el contrabajo a los temas ya existentes, y consiguiendo un sonido mas menos definido como PsychoRocknroll.

The SICK SICK SINNERS was born in late 2005. Started with a few rehearsals at Mutant Cox..s house, when he realized that he was up to play the slap bass instead of the guitar, which was the original plan. Vlad and Cox used to play together a long ago with Os Cervejas and then Os Catalépticos, Duma came to play the drums and together they recorded the first demo "We are the Sick Sick Sinners" that already spread their name all around the world. After some shows the Sick Sick Sinners changed the line up and invited the punk rocker Magrão to join the band. They already brought their sick music to California, Argentina, Uruguay and of corpse Brasil!

O SICK SICK SINNERS se formou no fim de 2005 em Curitiba, Brasil com Vlad (Guitarra e Vocal), Cox (Baixo e Vocal) e Duma (Bateria). Com essa formação eles gravaram a primeira demo, chamada "We are the Sick Sick Sinners". No começo de 2006 a banda tocou em festivais como Jungle Nightmare, Psycho Carnival e vários outros show no Brasil. Depois de um tempo houve uma mudança no line up, O punk rocker Magrão (Bateria e Backing Vocals) entra na banda e eles foram para os EUA tocar em 2 shows. Lá a banda foi convidada a vender seu merchandise na loja americana www.atlantacrashandburn.com. De volta ao Brasil, eles gravaram a pré produção de seu álbum, ao vivo em um estúdio caseiro, que tornou-se a segunda demo da banda. No final desse ano a banda fez uma pequena turnê no Uruguai e Argentina, onde tocaram em um dos mais importantes festivais da cena rock'n'roll da América Latina, o BA Stomp. Com a ajuda do myspace e da Internet, eles divulgaram a banda pelo mundo inteiro, sendo convidados a gravar um álbum pelo selo Alemão Crazy Love Records. O CD foi lançado em maio na Alemanha e será lançado em outubro no Brasil pela Monstro Discos. O álbum se chamará "Road of Sin" e trará 13 faixas da banda.

Desde o início da banda, eles já tocavam em vários festivais e shows no Brasil e América do Sul. Em dezembro de 2007 eles gravaram o vídeo clip "Beer and Flesh Meat" e o vídeo alcançou 10.000 exibições em 4 meses após ter sido enviado para o youtube.com, onde você pode facilmente encontrar vários vídeos de performances ao vivo da banda. O mesmo vídeo está sendo televisionado na MTV Brasileira. Em junho de 2008 a banda fez uma turnê pelos EUA e México e teve uma ótima resposta do público. A banda está começando a escrever novas músicas e já foi convidada a fazer uma turnê na América do Norte e do Sul e uma tour na Europa.

SINOPSIS: Los doctores Pretorius y Tillinghast trabajan en un experimento que pretende abrir la mente a dimensiones desconocidas, a través de la estimulación de la glándula pineal. Tras realizar el experimento serán atacados por unas terribles formas de vida.

Al principio de la película conocemos al Profesor Pretorius (Ted Sorel) y a su asistente Crawford Tillinghast, quienes efectúan extraños experimentos en el ático de una vieja casona. Un curioso aparato, llamado "resonador" produce vibraciones en frecuencias específicas, las cuales generan un campo electromagnético que estimula la glándula pineal en el cerebro humano. Ubicada cerca del centro del cerebro, esta glándula tiene una importante función en los ritmos circadianos del cuerpo, así como en el desarrollo del instinto sexual. René Descartes le llamó "el trono del alma", y en la antigüedad se le atribuían propiedades casi paranormales. El propósito de los experimentos de Pretorius y Tillinghast es "despertar" ese órgano dormido y explotar las ventajas del mítico "tercer ojo".

El experimento parece funcionar. Cuando el resonador llega a cierto nivel, Tillinghast y Pretorius presencian la aparición de extrañas criaturas "nadando" en el aire alrededor del aparato. La glándula pineal de los científicos afecta el nervio óptico, permitiéndoles ver las criaturas que co-existen en el mismo espacio que la humanidad, pero en una dimensión o frecuencia distinta. Desafortunadamente así como ellos perciben a las criaturas, las criaturas los perciben a ellos, y cuando Pretorius eleva la frecuencia del resonador, atrae a una entidad más peligrosa. El experimento concluye abruptamente con el cuerpo decapitado del Profesor. Entonces Tillinghast, casi enloquecido, es arrestado por el asesinato de su jefe y mentor.

Sin embargo, la evidencia no respalda las sospechas de los policías, y Tillinghast es recluido en un sanatorio para evaluar su estado mental. Para ello, se solicita la ayuda de la Dra. Katherine McMichaels (Barbara Crampton), quien escucha con atención los desvaríos de Tillinghast. Impresionada por los resultados del experimento, ella insiste en la inocencia del joven, quien es liberado y puesto bajo su custodia. Entonces, acompañados por el rudo policía Bubba Brownlee (Ken Foree), la Dra. McMichaels y Tillinghast regresan a la casona de Pretorius para duplicar el experimento y obtener pruebas de la inocencia del joven asistente.

Casi de inmediato obtienen resultados positivos, y aún el escéptico policía tiene que aceptar la presencia de extrañas criaturas en dimensiones paralelas. Pero la Dra. McMichaels quiere proseguir el experimento... la reprimida mujer ha encontrado en el resonador una puerta, no sólo a nuevas dimensiones, sino a nuevas sensaciones que su estricta profesión le negó durante años. Así, obsesionada por continuar la investigación de Pretorius y estimulada (en más de un sentido) por los resultados, la Doctora atrae la atención de los cada vez más amenazadores monstruos... y del mismo Pretorius, cuya conciencia habita ahora en esas tenebrosas dimensiones...

"From Beyond" se filmó hace veinte años y con un reducido presupuesto, por lo que sus efectos especiales pueden ser conceptualmente ingeniosos e innovadores, pero técnicamente arcaicos. Varios artistas del látex, como Mark Shostrom y John Carl Buechler, contribuyeron para hacer reales las grotescas pesadillas de Lovecraft, y si bien el resultado es adecuado para la década de su creación, sin duda parecerá atrasado y torpe para espectadores contemporáneos, acostumbrados al pseudo-realismo de los efectos digitales.

Afortunadamente la fuerza de "From Beyond" va más allá de la sangre, mucosidad y vísceras que bañan a su elenco. Las ideas que expresa el libreto son fascinantes y emulan perfectamente los temas de Lovecraft, a pesar de que en su cuento corto no aparezcan guapas psicólogas en ceñida ropa interior de cuero negro.

La metáfora de la drogadicción es bastante clara, pero estimo que Gordon quería llegar más lejos, incluyendo en su alegoría el viejo estándar de "hombre que trata de ser Dios sólo para convertirse en víctima de su ambición". Sin importar si hablamos de drogas, energía atómica o manipulación genética, este tema es universal, y tan vital hoy en día como hace veinte años... o hace dos siglos, cuando Mary Shelley escribió la original "Frankenstein".

El genial Jeffrey Combs regresa al establo de Gordon con otra frenética interpretación, eminentemente teatral y febrilmente intensa. Como el asistente Crawford Tillinghast, Combs expresa perfectamente la ambigüedad del genio atraído por los mundos desconocidos que se abren ante él, pero frenado por el sentido común que aún posee. Barbara Crampton adquirió fama en los ochentas como "scream queen", lo cual usualmente se traducía en muchos gritos y poca ropa. Sin embargo, su actuación en "From Beyond" demuestra genuino talento y esa rara cualidad de transmitir sólo con los ojos el pensamiento de su personaje. La escena final de la película es ridículamente exagerada, pero no en el aspecto visual sino en el emocional, y al menos en mi humilde opinión, Crampton logra que funcione perfectamente bien.

Ken Foree es un viejo conocido de los aficionados al terror gracias a su tremendo trabajo en la original "Dawn of the Dead" (1978), y aunque se podría alegar que en "From Beyond" le toca el papel de "comic relief", su energía y entusiasmo mantiene al personaje humano y creíble aún frente a las surrealistas situaciones que encuentra. Y, como es costumbre en las cintas de Stuart Gordon, no podía faltar su esposa, Carolyn Purdy-Gordon en el papel de la Dra. Roberta Bloch (poco sutil alusión al escritor amigo de Lovecraft), quien trata de ayudar (con horribles resultados) a Tillinghast en su más extremo momento de locura.

La influencia teatral que mencioné afecta seriamente algunas de las películas en las que Gordon trata de introducir un aire épico (como "Robot Jox", de 1990, y "Dagon", del 2001). Pero en cintas más íntimas y modestas, como "King of the Ants" y la presente "From Beyond" el resultado es benéfico, pues acentúa las emociones de los personajes y eleva la intensidad de sus actuaciones, haciendo inmediatamente más creíbles y memorables hasta las más bizarras situaciones de sus libretos.

"From Beyond" ha caído en el olvido debido a ciertos problemas legales, pero su reciente restauración (que debutó en el canal televisivo de alta definición Monsters HD) presagia un inminente lanzamiento en DVD, preferentemente con escenas extirpadas de la versión original. Esperemos que entonces esta exótica película encuentre de nuevo a su audiencia y que sea tomada como un modesto clásico contemporáneo, cuyas ideas y mensaje siguen vigentes, a diferencia de sus divertidos pero primitivos efectos especiales. Después de todo, Howard Philip Lovecraft escribió la historia original en 1920, y las ideas (no la ciencia) siguen siendo tan impactantes hoy como hace ochenta y seis años.

Sweat and style are the high-geared twin axles of Speedbuggy.

The sweat? Well, it’s their own. Speedbuggy are one of the hardest playing bands in country music, putting their nitro-fueled brand on a genre that’s been the soundtrack to American life — from the bottoms of the Brazos to the concrete canyons of the cities — for nearly 100 years.

And the style? That’s theirs, too, although Speedbuggy arrived at their unique sound through the prism of experience, history and a love for some of the greatest music from country’s past.

After all, acoustic guitar playing frontman and lyricist Timbo, hot-rodding steel and lead guitarist Greg McMullen, bassist Brady Sloan and drummer Kellii Scott grew up in the modern rock era and spent their formative days on stage and in the studio performing in punk ’n’ roll outfits. But ultimately — as they grew as musicians and men — the lure of the music they loved drew them to its sources: Bakersfield and Hollywood.

Bakersfield is where Buck Owens & His Buckaroos, and later Merle Haggard, developed a hard twanging style of country — loud and proud enough to cut through the noise of roadhouses packed with blue-collar crowds out for a good time after a week of slaving in oil fields and farms.

“It was working man’s music, and that’s exactly the kind of songs we write,” says Timbo. “They’re songs about hard jobs, drinking and loving; real stories about real people. There’s not enough of that in country music these days. And I’ve worked hard at day jobs all my life, so I know all of those stories because I’ve lived them.”

Back in the Bakersfield days, Buck’s buddy Don Rich provided daredevil fret board accompaniment to Owens’ singing on Fender Telecasters — guitars with bolt-on necks, just in case one got cracked in a bar fight. That’s a contingency that also appeals to McMullen, since Speedbuggy shows have been known to erupt into busted-knuckle fiestas.

The six-string fandango is his department. McMullen’s a master Telecaster blaster, adept at the multi-string bends, double-stops and rich ‘n’ reedy voice-like tone that’s a signature of the Bakerfield’s sound.

The other half of Rich’s legacy was the gilded vocal harmonies he wrapped around the stories Owens sang. Sloan’s in charge there, twining his voice around Timbo’s to greater a unique vocal sound for Speedbuggy while his bass playing deftly splits the difference between country stepping and rock ‘n’ roll rumble.

And when it comes to the genuine honky-tonk weep-and-moan, McMullen’s got that covered, too. He’s an expert on the pedal steel — the instrument he played in the late songwriter Chris Whitley’s band — with fluid command of a range that stretches from modernist experimentation with effects and extended technique all the way back to Hank… and to Hollywood. “Between Timbo’s acoustic guitar and my Telecaster and pedal steel, we cover a lot more textures than most other country bands in our songs,” McMullen says. “And when you factor in our range of musical experience, we have a much broader palette than a majority of the bands that play country today.”

Now, about Hollywood. The other half of Speedbuggy’s historic foundation is the romance of the Wild West. Especially as it was portrayed in the movies and the music of the great singing cowboys Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. “We’re on a mission to put the ‘western’ back in country & western music,” Timbo insists. “Some of the most beautiful portraits of the American landscape and way of life are in those songs about riding the trails across the mountains, plains and rivers, and about making a new life in a land full of promise. That used to be part of the great American dream – the working man’s dream — and we don’t see any good reason to let it die.”

Right now Speedbuggy are poised at a drag-strip green light to their future. They’re recording a new album to capture their unique, time-jumping take on country music at its peak. And they’re rarin’ to burn plenty of rubber on the road in the U.S. and Europe, aiming to prove that real, strong-hearted country (& western!) music still has — and deserves — a place in everybody’s heart.

Drunken, staggering punk rock with firm roots in the music of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, Speedbuggy USA are your typical drinking cowboys who don't want to let go of their beloved country music (and why should they?), but also want to get out there and rock. So, what do they do? They combine the two and create some of the best cow-punk known to man. Sure, Wilco (who I happen to love) are some of the best at alt-country. But, let's be honest here. They're timid and weak compared to Speedbuggy USA, who aren't afraid to down a fifth, jump up on stage, and kick the shit out of everyone in the audience with noise, noise, and more noise. It ain't noise though if you're in the know.

Cowboys & Aliens is the cow-punk album of the new millennium. Don't question that, it's true. Now that we've established that, I want you to also accept the fact that Speedbuggy USA is roaring, raunchy, carefree fun.

Fuck, what else can you say about an album this wicked; this good; this damn drunken and loose, but tight nonetheless? All I can say is, I'll be blasting this record time and time again, and will make it the soundtrack to many parties. Cow-punk never sounded so good. Ah... Speedbuggy USA knows how to rock? Now, where do the other bands (read: imitators) sign up to take lessons? I'll give this an A.

HETTEN DES is a Belgian band with members who got already prouved their skills in a lot of different bands like: The Ratmen, Sin Alley, Donkey diesel, Big Bill and so many others. This CD features 13 songs, 7 of them are self-penned ones. The Others are covers by Johnny Cash, Danzing, Neil diamond, Hank williams Sr, Mike Ness and of course Motorhead. This is a combination from mainly Rockabilly and Country with a dosis of powerfull injected R'n'R and some punk infleunces. If you can make a combination from all these styles that ain't boring and it creates a great respons in all scene's....well sinners Power-Cuntry is born !!!!! If Hank Williams III himself asked permission to cover a song from Hètten Dès, you're on the right track! They got some musical help from Martine Van Hoof (Sin Alley) doing some great backing vocals, and Jan De Smet ( De Nieuwe Snaar) puttin' a great moody accordion on 'Alone And Forsaken '. The CD was recorded at the BSB studio's in Brussels (the same studio that recorded Vaya Con Dios, Ozark Henry, Novastar and Clement Peerens Explosition!). And beware.....LINE-DANCING IS FORBIDDEN!!!!!

The Death of Hètten Dès

Lately things have been very unstable in the Hetten Des camp. Due to some differences between the different members of the band we have decided to quit. Or at least for while. We dont know yet what the future will bring, but its definitely no use continuing the same way we have been doin' things in the past.

So, as for now, we hope we were able to give each and every one of you a good time every once in a while, and we certainly look back with pride and a very good feeling about the things we did, as we have accomplished more than wed hoped for when we started this band.

Whats gonna become of the different musicians, and the projects they'll be involved in in the future, will certainly be announced on these here pages. Id like to think we parted our ways in good friendship.

So if you want to see us on stage again, Im afraid youll have to be on the lookout for gigs by Los Fabulous Frankies (Franky and me), Benvis (Ron), Sin Alley (Sam and me) or The Million Dollar Sunrise (Franky and me).

We wish you a merry Christmas and happy New Year anyway, and hope to see yall soon!

'Les Crabs' is a landmark of French Psychobilly music from a band that formed in 1985 and became hugely popular in their native country and neighboring Switzerland. Though inspired originally by The Cramps and The Meteors, Les Crabs took their brand of Psychobilly in many different directions creating a style unique to themselves, appealing not only to Psychobillies but to followers of 'alternative music' in general. The VOODOO LOVECATS originally formed back in 1994, threw out a few demos, smashed a few stages, then launched their debut CD Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things (Horror Show Records) in 1997. The band followed up with a split CD El Noche De El Siniestro Vudu (Horror Show Records) in 1998 and toured extensively (supporting international bands like The Misfits in '97, Suicidal Tendencies, Face to Face...) around Australia. This cd-ep from Aussie punks VOODOO LOVECATS didn't sound the way I expected. I've been following this band for the last couple of years, I really liked their previous demos "Desperate + Dateless" and "Punk & Disorder". VOODOO LOVECATS represented great glampunk with an outrageous glamimage. When I saw the new photo of the band I realized that something had changed, VOODOO LOVECATS still looked outrageous but more punk than glam. When I listened to the promotape of "Children shouldn't play with dead things" I heard that the music had followed the same path, towards punk with touches of industry. I usually hate this kind of progression but VOODOO LOVECATS still are a great band and their new songs is actually better than their old eventhough the genre is less appealing, to these ears.

"Dance of the fishhogs" is a suitable intro, with some bombastic guitars! The following two songs "That's what I believe" and "Killed her in St. Kilda", is actually close to the sound of their glampunk days. Great sing-along melodies served with the raw energy of punk.

"Give it to me", "Stop the rot" and "Knife or gun" are more classic punk, similiar to SEX PISTOLS and others. The ep also contains two bonustracks

Banda chilena de Psychobilly creada como proyecto tras la unión de LUCIFER ROCKER y SEXBASSTIAN MOIKANO en Marzo del 2006. Luego en Abril del mismo año KATONA-(LA CRAZY VOODOO KAT) entra a la voz y VICTOR MENTO en batería.

En Junio tras la salida de VICTOR MENTO, PELAO PSYCHO se encarga definitivamente de los parches y platillos, con lo que queda totalmente conformado VOODOO ZOMBIE.

En la segunda mitad del año tocan dos canciones por primera vez en un concierto. Su primera presentación oficial fue en el 3º Festival Rockabilly de Chile con mucho éxito junto a su performance y potente música. La banda empieza a tomar lugar en la inmadura escena Psycho del país, sobretodo en Santiago, terminando ese año con varias presentaciones a lleno total de cada local.

A principios del 2007 se graban 4 temas, del cual uno es encargado para participar de un compilatorio argentino tributo a la banda estadounidense MISFITS. En Mayo de este mismo año se filma el video clip del tema Amor Psycho, dirigido por Mauricio Menéndez, el cual al estar listo y colgado en la red, alcanza las mil visitas en la primera semana.

En Julio del 2007 la banda viaja a Perú en donde es acogida muy bien, marcando su estilo y performance casi del mismo modo que su calidad musical.

A final de enero la banda lleva a cabo una gira por Brasil (país donde la escena Psychobilly es masiva y su recepción hacia la banda muy buena) fue ahi donde presentaron shows en el Club Vegas y Lady Hell de Sao Paulo y porteriormente en el Psychocarnibal de Curitiba, donde compartieron escenario con las bandas MAD SIN (Alemania), CHUCK AND THE BRASIL CRACK PIPES (Uk+Brasil), THE HOWLERS (Us), SICK SICK SINNERS (Curitiba), BIG NITRONS (Santos), AS DIABATZ (Curitiba), VOODOO STOMPERS( São Paulo), MR. OCHIO (Itália), NUMBER 71(Itália) y PETE I (guitarrista de NEKROMATIX) entre otras bandas mas.

Posteriormente, al regresar a Chile trabajaron en el tema "Manicomio", tema principal de la pelicula "Solos", un filme de zombies del Director Jorge Olguín, cuyo video clip dirijido por el mismisimo Jorge Olguín será estrenado este 26 de Mayo.
Hace poco, el 30 de Abril del 2008 Voodoo Zombie viajo a Buenos Aires (Argentina) para dar tres conciertos durante tres días donde la recepción, ademas de ser buenisima, abrio un espacio sembrar el Psycho entre los argentinos.

The Damned are an English rock band formed in London in 1976. They are notable for being the first punk rock band from England to release a single ("New Rose"), an album (Damned Damned Damned), and to tour the United States. The Damned later evolved into one of the forerunners of the gothic rock genre.
They have incorporated numerous styles into their music and image, including: garage rock, psychedelic rock, cabaret, and the theatrical rock of Screaming Lord Sutch and Alex Harvey. Lead singer Dave Vanian's vocal style has been described as similar to a crooner. The Damned have dissolved and reformed many times, with Vanian as the sole constant member, however, the lineups have always included either guitarist Captain Sensible and/or drummer Rat Scabies, who are both founding members. Over time, its reputation has grown to equal the original Damned Damned Damned; while no less strong than that record, the Damned here bring in a wide variety of touches and influences to create a record that most of their contemporaries could never have approached. The group's wicked way around witty punk hadn't ebbed a bit; the opening cut, "Love Song," is a hilarious trashing of romantic clichés (sample lyric: "I'll be the rubbish, you'll be the bin!") that barely lasts two minutes, while "Noise, Noise, Noise" and "Liar" work in the same general vein. These, however, only scratch the surface. "Melody Lee," written by the Captain for a favorite comic character, starts with a lovely piano intro, whereas the celebratory angst of "I Just Can't Be Happy Today" chugs along with garagey élan and keyboards à la the Electric Prunes. Other prime standouts include "Plan 9 Channel 7," a Grand Guignol of an epic about James Dean and Vampira with a fantastic Vanian vocal; the merry mayhem of "These Hands"

After forming on Halloween night in 2003, Love Equals Death made quick work of things and rose to the top of the SF Bay Areas punk rock heap. Things were happening for the band and they were happening fast: shows with TSOL, Avenged Sevenfold, The Distillers, and more. It was at one of these local gigs that Fat Mike first witnessed the spectacle of their live show and knew right away that he wanted to work with them. And thus began the alliance between Fat and Love Equals Death; months later they emerged from the studio with their debut, Nightmerica.

The bands name is inspired by the members long and sordid history in various punk acts throughout the years. Dominic was the founding member of Tsunami Bomb, Chon made a name for himself fronting local heroes Loose Change and Envain, while the other dudes did time in bands like Eye Defy and 26 M.P.H. But you know the story, shit happens and bands break up. The difference with Love Equals Death is that this band was forged out of their frustration and disappointment with their past projects; and the glue that binds these four seasoned rockers is their drive to prove themselves and a desire to push their limits of creativity.

The band describes their music as a raw sound that twists all the best elements of both classic and modern sounds into something entirely new, but we think it sounds like a punk rock hybrid of Billy Idol and AFI. No need to argue, because Nightmerica is a diverse debut that draws as much from Duran Duran as it does Horror Punk bands like the Misfits and the Damned. The Original TSOL
When T.S.O.L. blasted onto the Orange County punk explosion in 1979 with white face paint, 6’ plus frames and blazing punk anthems, they were automatically a force to be reckoned with. Their previous band, Vicious Circle, had already established themselves in the South Bay and Orange County with large crowds and several riots at historical venues such as the Cuckoo’s Nest and the Fleetwood. With the boost of the now classic Poshboy EP that introduced the songs “Superficial Love” and “Abolish Government”, TSOL picked up where Vicious Circle left off, but with an armory full of ammunition.

This enabled the band to spread it’s popularity around California, supporting heavyweights like The Damned and The Dead Kennedy’s in big cities like LA and San Francisco. By the summer of ’81, the band released the highly anticipated debut full length LP, Dance With Me (Frontier), which propelled the band to the highest echelon of Southern California punk status, and enabled them to headline 3000+ seat venues (ala the Hollywood Palladium) with bands like Bad Religion, Social Distortion and the Adolescents opening for them.

There were obvious reasons why TSOL was so huge so fast: They were cuter, their songs were catchier and their live show was a lot more energetic and fun then any other band going. They single handedly initiated the influx of girls into the early 80’s punk scene. With songs about fucking the dead, “Code Blue” and gothic punk ballads like “Silent Scream”, they became the first punk “phenomenon”; it was the “OC Invasion”.

Jack Grisham, Ron Emory, Mike Roche and Todd Barnes were four kids who grew up together in Huntington Beach; now they were the talk of the West Coast. The band moved on to Alternative Tentacles records, where they released the Weathered Statues EP, here they introduced the reggae-tinged “Word Is” alongside the blistering “Man and Machine”. That gave the fans something to chew on while the title track hinted at the direction the band was heading as they put together their masterpiece, their punk-opera so to speak: Beneath the Shadows. It was at this time when the band was featured in the motion picture “Suburbia”, directed by Penelope Spheeris (Wayne’s World, Decline of Western Civilization, etc.), a stark semi-documentary on the punk scene of early ‘80s Orange County. The band appeared both in the film and on the film’s soundtrack.

Beneath the Shadows (Alternative Tentacles), the band’s second full length LP, showed just how much the band had rapidly matured. It wasn’t a breakaway from their previous releases; it was a progression. The band added keyboards and the arrangements became more complex and stylized, it made one think that the London Symphony might be touring with them in the future. As other bands of their genre fumbled around “into the unknown”, TSOL forged a new sound, one that didn’t turn fans away, but made them even more numerous and rabid.

But with their enormous popularity, and their first tours, the foundation began to crack. Excessiveness and things that go along with “bigness” forced changes, including the departure of Jack and Todd, leaving behind a band that was well on the way, to instead regressing to a more primitive punk sound that quickly stagnated and alienated fans.

Today, 10 years since it’s last “reunion”, the band is back to give us what they gave then. “Superficial Love”, “80 Times”, “Code Blue”, “Wash Away” and the rest of those vintage punk nuggets will be blasted live into our faces again. Those who were not around to witness TSOL in their heyday can finally see for themselves why the band spawned a generation of bands and changed the shape of music today.

"The Spectres' third full-length release is chock full of grainy B-movie themes, demonic dancing dames, and malignant creature rock as they tell tales of monsters, heartbreak, and insanity. What I've always liked about the Spectres is the gritty guitar sound coupled with a primal rhythm section that delivers a variety of tempos and moods. Songs like "Hot Rod Hearse" "I'm a Monster" and "Grave Digger" are highly combustible psychobilly tunes that burn themselves into your head. "Top Fuel Armageddon" has a little Cramps flavor, while "Switching Heads" is a slower eerie number in 2/4 accompanied by accordion and sousaphone that will give you chills. After that you get "Fistful of Pesos," an outstanding Southwestern instrumental with the bleak landscape portrayed in ponderous guitar work, building up into a bombastic drama, then calming again for another exotic interlude. Elsewhere, "Howlin'" is another moody track with slide guitar as they prowl through an even creepier take on the Little Red Riding Hood tale. I am very sad to announce that our Great beloved friend and Drummer Andrew Martinez AKA Andy DeMize AKA Mr. Pink AKA Little Guy, past away early this morning Sunday January 11, 2009 as a result of a terrible car accident in Fullerton, Orange County California. My thoughts and Condolences go out to his Family and Everybody that knew Andrew. There is no words to describe the shock...... Andrew was probably the most loveable guy I ever met and truely the only person I've met in my life that was loved and liked by everybody met. It's just typical Andrew to pull off this "rockstar death" way too early. I have no idea how Newcastle Beer will be able to continue to stay in business and I encourage everybody that knew Andrew, was a fan of his work with his bands, to drink one, two or many Newcastles in his honor. R!PSNORTER has been playing some intensely fast, aggressive and energized music since 1994. In a word, it's hardcore.. It can be described as a blend of the band's roots in punk rock, its evolution to classic old school eighties-style hardcore infused with genres ranging from metal and industrial to rockabilly. The end result is some really kickass time-enduring hardcore and hardcore-hybrid music.

This band does not stick to one overall formula for music. Encompassing the variety of music genres and styles is what keeps the songs fresh and at times, unexpected. The members write songs ranging over a broad base of style and content. The subject matter is as diverse as their individual and collective interests and beliefs. Some songs cary messages, others are written simply for the hell of it. One song may carry a statement on society or about the human psyche, and the next would deal with dead things eating brains. This diversity keeps the members challenged and keeps crowds interested in what's coming next. It also has mass appeal to different audiences.

Live shows are charged with energy and are incredibly LOUD! It is not unusual for people to be seen retreating from the room covering their ears. Hey, they don't say Ear Protection Required for nothing. It doesn't matter where they play or who they play with, people say they are louder. Ripsnorter has left crowds anywhere from completely stunned and deaf, to yelling and begging for more (even both). If they can, they will dish out some more. Ripsnorter has opened shows for national and international acts.

Formed in 1999 by vocalist/guitarist COUNT LYLE (Solitude Aeturnus, The Killcreeps), Ghoultown recorded its first 3-song EP in October of that same year. Titled BOOTS OF HELL, the EP illustrated the power of the band's Tex-Mex blend while garnering rabid reviews, a fanbase and independent radio airplay. With BOOTS OF HELL in circulation, the band's early buzz landed them several compilation appearances. The most notable being Skully Records' (NY) GOTHABILLY 2: ROCKIN' NECROPOLIS where they share the bill with some of the best gothabilly/psychobilly acts around the world. As a kick off, the band was invited to participate in the world-release show held at NY's infamous CBGB's on Halloween 2000.

In early 2001 Ghoultown released their full-length debut TALES FROM THE DEAD WEST. The album, produced by Kol Marshall (Mercyful Fate, etc.), captured the versatility and unique sound of the Texan quintet from the powerful "Killer in Texas" to the Doors-esque "Running From the Sun." "This album already has a place on my best of 2001 list," quoted a Harder Beat reviewer who reflected the positive response. Not only were ears turned, but eyes as well as the release pushed the band into new live show territory. With highlight performances such as an Atlanta show, which featured Jerry Only of the legendary Misfits as an onstage guest.

By 2002 Ghoultown invaded the film world when four of their tunes were chosen for the soundtrack of the horror-slasher, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE, starring b-movie queen Debbie Rochon (TROMEO & JULIET). As a testament to their memorable live show, the movie script was subsequently altered to include a Ghoultown performance cameo after the director witnessed the band live, and the video for their track "Killer In Texas" was included as a bonus on the DVD.

In the spring of 2002, not only did the band release their follow-up GIVE 'EM MORE ROPE, but Angry Planet Records signed an exclusive licensing deal with Netherlands-based Corazong Records to release a special version of Ghoultown's TALES FROM THE DEAD WEST in Europe and Canada. The Euro-Canadian release included tracks from their BOOTS OF HELL EP as well.

By late summer, Ghoultown hit the road for a 35 date U.S. tour which included performances at NY's CBGBs to The Garage in L.A. The tour climaxed with a performance at one of the world's largest annual entertainment media conventions, Dragon*Con in Atlanta, where the band has performed three times since.

Hitting 2003 Ghoultown's signature tune "Killer In Texas" made yet another appearance in a short film called HEADCHEESE which was released on DVD with a movie called FREAK. Appropriately, HEADCHEESE was filmed in the same location as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE... house and all! Spending the first half of 2003 performing, the band toured the midwest and east coast, in addition to numerous Texas area shows.

In 2004 Ghoultown released a double disc set, LIVE FROM TEXAS!, which showcased their powerful live show on both CD and DVD. "Ghoultown puts the grit back into rock 'n' roll with a blazing hellfire vengeance!" said Horror Garage in praise of the release, which has garnered extremely positive feedback. Also in 2004, the band managed to creep into the video game market where several of their actual gig posters can be seen in the award-winning VAMPIRE MASQUERADE: BLOODLINES PC game.

In 2006 the band released their latest CD, BURY THEM DEEP, on Zoviet Records, which quickly became the best-selling Ghoultown release to date. The band appeared at serveral large horror conventions throughout 2006 and 2007, including Texas Frightmare Weekend where they were chosen to play the VIP celebrity party which boasted guest such as George Romero, Ken Foree and other well-known horror genre actors and directors.

By 2007 , the band was chosen to appear on the soundtrack compilation of the Gris Grimly short filme, "Cannibal Flesh Riot." After numerous live shows, the band locked themselves away to write material for upcoming releases. 2008 promises to be a great year for Ghoultown as they plan for the release of a limited edition 7-inch, SKELETON COWBOYS, and their fifth studio release, LIFE AFTER SUNDOWN.

In 1996 Ripsnorter started messing around with recording gear. We heard about a call for submissions for a Misfits tribute from Fandango Records through the Misfits Central Bible. We decided to cover "Skulls", which ended up on the "4 Hits from Mars" 7""ep.

In that same session, we recorded five other 'Fits tunes to make the "Ghouls Night Outtakes" release. In addition, all of the tracks made it on to other various Misfits compilations. This session was recorded with mobile recording gear in a practice space in St. Paul, MN.

This continued off and on over the next few years. Since then, Ripsnorter had recorded various Misfits sessions in between recording original material. The later recordings were done at the Ripsnorter Compound studio until 2002.

Ripsnorter plans recording more in the near future. Until then, enjoy the current offerings.

It's the real horror show...quite frankly it takes serious testicular fortitude to do the horror punk thing, hell even the greatest who dabbled in it couldn't quite stick it out or stick with it long enough to survive the punk purist backlash with all of the crap heaved their way. TSOL did Dance with ME, Social Distortion did it with Mommy's Little Monster, Mad Parade did it with Mad Parade and of course the Misfits became legends of it.

The bitter truth was, all of these band have recorded their best stuff to date, while having the horror punk entangle their sound. So where did it all go, the white faces and the blackened eyes? Again it comes down to the strength and talent, and it appeared that for the longest time, no one had it. The undeniable truth about horror punk is, you gotta be able to pull it off with a singer that can actually sing. The marble mouth barkers dont cut it here.

In 1997, Duane Peter's (of US Bombs) brought Orange County's Spooky to the forefornt with the band's epic debut 4 song release, Ribcage. The horror starved OC punk scene ate the single up and one of OC's greatest vocalists, Mike Monster made his mark, dagger and all.

Singlehandedly, the Spooky has carried the OC Horror Punk Scene on its back, never looking back, or attempting to change their sound or passion. The tale of the Spooky reads like this, we ain't in it for the money, popularity or praise, this aint no show this aint no act. We will leave you with this to ponder, ever wonder why there are so many crappy punk bands in OC and only one Spooky. The answer is simple, safety is in numbers.

The spectres are a psychobilly/rockabilly band with some punk influences. They formed in April of 1997. Their first show was sy Gibson's in 1997 in Seattle, WA. They opened for Demented Are Go, who are infamous in the psychobilly scene.

Their first album was Rubber Room Rock (1998). This album was awesome, and it was followed by two others: Blood Sweat & Nitro (2000), and The Great Erotic Zombie Shakedown (2003).

The bands sound is unique, yet it sounds similar to many psychobilly bands you will hear to day. They have a tendency for some of their songs to be fast and upbeat, then others to be slow and calm, yet with the words of a serial killer.
